social justice

The desire for social justice is a central part of the Christian faith.  Christ Church members work for justice in as many different ways as there are people – each of us brings our own perspective and skills to the task.  This section of the website describes the efforts we make together as a church community.

Some of our efforts are coordinated by the Just Action Group, which is made up of people from both Christ Church and Morningside United Church who are interested in justice issues. We began as a group focused primarily on local concerns, such as homelessness, but we have recently broadened our scope. In the past we have hosted a Palestinian Tea including a gift stall from the Hadeel shop and an informational slide show, a workshop for people in the congregation about money issues in this time of recession, and a hunger banquet to raise awareness and money for St. Catherine’s Convent. We are always looking for fresh ideas and new faces, so please join in.
