From November 2011, Christ Church Morningside will be hosting Holy Corner sessions of Remade in Edinburgh. Remade is a community-led initiative to create a reuse and repair centre in South Edinburgh. The centre will house a serie
s of social enterprises that convert things that would be thrown away into useful objects, training people in new skills, and promoting a zero-waste Edinburgh as an alternative to a culture of cheap disposable items.
We’ll start out with sessions every other Monday from 7-9. Since these sessions are new, we expect what happens in them to evolve to suit the people who come. We hope to have a range of people from the neighbourhood with many different skills who are interested in re-use, and expect to focus on textiles and other things that can be treated like them. We’ll be blogging what we try and what the plan for the next session in – see the Remade website for details.
