  Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is given a high priority at Christchurch. We are a family church and, like any healthy family, we want everyone in it to feel welcomed and cherished. As we are also a large church, this requires some organisation. Of course, we sometimes fall short of our ideal, but to try to minimise this, there are quite a few groups of people involved:

  • Firstly there are the Rector and the Ministry Team, all of whom can be called upon and consulted about any pastoral matter at any time.

  • Secondly there is a small team of home Communion visitors who will gladly bring Communion to the home of anyone who for one reason or another cannot get to church. There are also a few people who are able to pay more frequent visits for those who would like that. Please let the Church office know if you would like a visit.

  • Thirdly there is a large team of Area visitors each of whom is an informal friend to a few individual members of the congregation. They are crucial points of contact, especially for those who cannot come to church very often, and they keep in touch with them.

  • Fourthly there is a visitor's support team. They are "visitors to th\e visitors". They help them meet and support each other, and they also ensure good communication between them and the Ministry Team.

This may seem like a tremendous number of groups, but the whole point of them is to make sure that you feel welcome at Christ Church, so if you don't, please let us know!
