February Prayers from the Monday Prayer group. On Monday evenings our group will settle down in the light of a candle to focus our minds on stillness and on Christ, to pray for our spiritual growth towards a deeper understanding of God as individual people, as a church, and as nations, that God's peace and justice may prevail throughout earth. We invite you, the reader, to take a little time out to settle down each week, as we do, with pencil and paper, to write down those people and world happenings that God reminds us are in need of the strengthening of God's healing spirit, the growth of faith through prayer. We ask that He be present as united we pray for them, often in periods of silence. During the season of Lent, we shall take time to focus on the our past, present and future lives, on our spiritual journey with God, and how we may gain forgiveness, new strength, wisdom and faith by the power of the Holy Spirit through our knowledge of Jesus Christ. Our Evening Home liturgy this month will be as follows:- Let us settle, focus on the light of Christ and the presence of God and pray, giving thanks:- God of the elements, glory to you, Glory to you for the flowing air. Glory for light beyond compare. Glory for water as it flows. Glory for soil and all that grows. Glory for life and love and birth. Glory to you, Lord of the earth.
We pray for peace on earth. Holy and Strong one, we pray you will strenghthen the spitiual growth of our world and its people. Drawing them and its leaders towards peace and justice, dispelling greed then sharing mutual love and respect between nations and religions. In guarding the needs of our planet we pray that there will be peace and plenty for all. Strengthen us good Lord. .....A period of silence .... We pray for the world wide church, our churches in Scotland and for ourselves. Holy and strong one, in our weakness, we come to you Lord Jesus during Lent. Let us grow and develop in faith and the knowledge of your mysteries on our journey with you. Each according to our own understanding and readiness. Strengthen us, good Lord. .....A period of silence..... We ask for hope as we pray for those who suffer We bring a world of people strained and stressed, broken by war and crime and evil, distressed by violence, flood, drought and and starvation. Strengthen them, good Lord. ....A period of silence...... We pray for friends and all in sickness, loneliness, heartache and bereavement.. In weariness and want, in fear and anxiety, we bring the sick and the suffering, the pained and despairing, the forsaken or betrayed to you. Healing Christ comfort them. Eternal peace be with our loved ones who have died, through Jesus Christ our Lord. .....A period of silence....
